GLAM partners with Arm to give girls business and leadership
As part of an ongoing partnership, over 100 Arm employees volunteered their time and expertise to participate in modules on Leadership, Strategy, Teamwork, Entrepreneurship, Creativity, Computer Coding, Public Speaking, and Business. We offer an award-winning curriculum that includes: Planning and business pitching. The goal of this program is to empower girls to dream big and reach senior management positions in STEAM and business. To date, hundreds of girls have been positively impacted by this partnership.
The 2022 event was streamed online and was attended by 72 girls, 21 of whom were from underserved US communities. Her remaining 51 participants are daughters of Arm employees, usa, England, IndiaWhen Columbia.
Pre- and post-event surveys revealed that GLAM participants’ knowledge of STEAM and leadership improved significantly over the course of the programme. The girls’ responses to these surveys revealed a 130% surge in her knowledge and confidence in her business pitches, as well as increased confidence in public speaking and understanding of business planning.
GLAM participants created and presented 13 business plans. These plans were reviewed by dozens of Arm volunteers on elements such as strategy, value proposition, marketing plan, public speaking, and business pitching. 4 winners were selected and awarded $700 USD with prizes.
Several Arm volunteers worked with GLAM attendees in coding sessions, and attendees participated in beginner and advanced coding classes. The girls also had the opportunity to design their own vision boards and submit business pitches during the program. Ultimately, 85% of her participants expressed interest in continuing to learn more about coding.
