The Alabama Business Council has announced that Helena Duncan has been selected as the organization’s new president and CEO. Duncan is BCA’s first black president.
She joined BCA in 2020 and has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, primarily at the executive management level. Prior to her role at BCA, she served as Regional President of Liberty Bank & Trust. She joined BCA as Director of Strategic Operations and Growth, most recently as Senior Vice President of Operations and Investor Relations.
“Helena Duncan has the experience, talent and perspective to effectively lead BCA and strengthen its role as a voice for Alabama’s businesses,” said BCA Chairman Mike Kemp. An experienced business woman who has worked with 100,000,000,000 companies She speaks the language of business Her leadership qualities, management experience, and work ethic will be invaluable as BCA navigates its way into the future It will be an asset.”
“I am honored to have been chosen and given the responsibility of leading such a prestigious organization,” Duncan said. Our previous role in gave us a deep knowledge of the organization and its members.As we begin this new chapter, our priority is to create an energetic and effective organization on behalf of Montgomery and its members at the federal level. It is about improving and refocusing our advocacy efforts.”
For the past year and a half, Robin Stone has led BCA as Interim Executive Director.
“Robin has demonstrated efficient and effective leadership during his tenure at BCA,” said Kemp. “During his tenure, BCA has experienced a period of strong success in all aspects of the organization and we thank him for his contributions. We look forward to his continued support.”
Duncan was recently named a Yellow Hammer “2022 Woman of Impact” for her influential role and contributions in businesses and communities across Alabama. She was chairman of the St. James’s School and a board member of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce and Child Protection. She serves on the boards of Dixie Electric Cooperative, YMCA, Montgomery Committee of 100, Board of Controls Committee of 100, and Synovus Bank.
Duncan is married to Clarence Duncan. They have two sons, CJ and Colin.
The Business Council of Alabama is a bipartisan, statewide business association that represents the interests and concerns of approximately one million working Alabama people through partnerships between member companies and the Association of the Alabama Chamber of Commerce. BCA is an exclusive Alabama affiliate to the American Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.
