Italia De La Cruz, small business owner, files to run in District 6


Self-employed small business owner Italia de la Cruz has applied to run for District 6 on the Fort Worth City Council. They are formally running for seats, including incumbent Jared Williams. The deadline for his submission is February 17th.

“Fort Worth must prioritize what makes sense to the average citizen,” de la Cruz said in a Facebook announcement. Let’s support small businesses and limit the city government’s excesses.”

According to her Facebook, De La Cruz is a small business owner, immigrant, and mother.

District 6 includes portions of South Central Fort Worth.

A municipal election is approaching. The main schedule is as follows.

January 18: Start submitting candidates

February 17: Last day for candidates to submit

April 6: Last day to register to vote

April 24: Early voting begins

May 2: Early voting ends

May 6: Election Day

Candidates from all 11 districts will contest seats in the May 6 constituency. Of the nine incumbents, he has so far applied for re-election.

Two districts, Wards 10 and 11, will only be filled after the city council passes a map to reorganize the districts.
