Wilkinson becomes bank governor
Charles V. Timpaalong with the Board of Directors of the First Federal Bank of Louisiana, is pleased to announce the following: Samuel V. “Sam” Wilkinson Named President and CEO of First Federal Bank.
Wilkinson succeeds Timpa, who has been with First Federal Bank for 44 years and has served as CEO for the past 15 years. Timpa will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Wilkinson has 45 years of experience in financial services, including beginning his banking career at Calcasieu.
After that, he worked at Marine National Bank before becoming senior vice president of Hibernia Bank and senior vice president of Capital One. Wilkinson joined First Federal Bank in 2007 and was named vice president in 2017 and president in 2020.
Wilkinson’s experience covers all aspects of banking and has served on various state and local community boards.
Wilkinson graduated from Vinton High School, McNeese State University, and the LSU Graduate School of Banking.
Wilson appointed
Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Sharon Darvill Wilson Appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve on the Judiciary Committee as a member of the Court of Appeals for a term beginning January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2026.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1988 and his Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1991.
From 1992 to 1999 Wilson worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office. From her 1999 to 2002 she worked as a chief felony prosecutor in the Allen Parish District Attorney’s Office.
She returned to the office of Calcasieu Parish DA and started working in private practice from 2002 to 2009.
Prior to being elected to the Louisiana Court of Appeals, Third Circuit, Wilson was elected to the 14th Judicial District Court, where he served from 2014-2020. She served as Chief Justice of the 14th JDC from 2017 to 2018. She co-founded the Veterans Affairs Court in Calcasieu Parish.
From 2019 to 2020, Wilson has served as a board member of the Louisiana District Judges Association and a district judge member of the Judiciary Committee.
Wilson will succeed retired Judge Judge John J. Molleson, Jr. of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Griffin Named ASSL Director
Southwestern Louisiana Autism Services and Direct Care Board of Directors is pleased to announce Melissa M. Griffin as Executive Director.
Griffin has been the Finance Manager and Operations Director for ASSL and Direct Care since the summer of 2021 and has demonstrated a true passion for serving clients. She graduated from McNeice State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. She has over 14 years of experience in administration, accounting, logistics, human resources and team leadership.
Prior to ASSL, Griffin spent six years at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as the hospital’s distribution manager.
Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana is a non-profit organization that provides housing and support for adults with autism. Direct Care Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides personal care services to people of all ages within the autism spectrum and with other developmental disabilities.
Safety Council Appoints Leader
The Southwest Louisiana Safety Council is pleased to announce two promotions to its executive team for 2023.
