Owner retires before fire burns down his business

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Bryan Baggs, former owner of Bryan Baggs Postal and Shipping, said:

Bugs owned a postal and shipping company in the Webster area. On Sunday, he retired and cleared everything from his shop. Then, on Wednesday morning, flames ruled the space.

“It’s devastating how this can happen in just a few hours,” Baggs said.

The fire in San Diego said it started in a nearby trash can and spread throughout the building. The fire destroyed three of his local businesses and damaged several others, but no one was injured.

“Had I been here a little longer, a few more days, I would have lost everything I had,” Baggs said.

Also thanks to Pouran Ross, owner of nearby Alex Menswear. She saw the fire on the news and rushed over to see if the store was okay.

“I was shaking,” Ross said.

Customers have been calling all day to check on her, Ross said.

“They are like family. We all know each other and support me,” Ross said.

Her store, like many others, has been in this strip mall for over a decade. Ross says if they can survive the pandemic, they can survive this.
