WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – The wedding industry continues to thrive post-pandemic as future newlyweds aim to get married in 2023.
Western Mass News stopped by the Springfield Bridal Expo to see how the couple is planning their wedding.
“Marriage couples come to the expo and see everything they need for their wedding, including dresses, honeymoons, cakes, and multiple categories.
With COVID-19 restrictions easing since the beginning of the pandemic, the wedding industry is preparing to boom in 2023. The couple headed out to the Bridal Expo in Springfield to purchase everything they needed for their wedding day. However, couples may find that the big day comes with an even bigger price tag.
According to the Wedding Report, the average cost of a wedding in 2021 will exceed $27,000, an increase of $7,000 from 2020 prices.
One of the brides-to-be who will be attending the expo told Western Mass News that they are shopping the event for the occasion to get the best value.
“All vendors are offering great discounts if you book now or get a promotion by being here,” said Marlborough’s Elisa Wolski. It’s also a reason to come. Just to see what everyone has to offer. “
Jenks told Western Mass News there are more options and availability for couples planning their weddings in the post-pandemic period.
“Many people were booked,” he said. “They canceled their wedding coming into COVID. Now everyone has kind of a good attitude towards cancellations. People are planning their 2023 wedding and his 2024 wedding schedule.” It’s starting to fill in. Everyone is advertising again and coming to the show.”
Jenks added that despite the high prices, the wedding industry is on the rise again.
“Everyone was basically out of business for 18 months,” he said. “Now business is back and I think it’s booming. I think it’s bigger than it used to be.”
The Wedding Expo is held on Sundays from 11am to 5pm at the Big E Fairgrounds.
