Williston Basin School’s Business Manager looking to bring change, transparency to district

Williston, North Dakota (KUMV) – The Williston Basin School District’s new business manager has begun looking into the district’s finances.

Kent Anderson was hired last month with his first day on January 3rd. He was the former business manager of Dickinson Public Schools and chief financial officer of Dickinson State University. His goal is to work with school boards to provide the public with accurate and transparent financial information.

“I make sure that the board and the public have reliable information. That’s my job. That’s what I try to do,” Anderson said.

Anderson said he plans to work remotely but will physically attend several board meetings where he has to present information.

“We visited together [Superintendent] Richard Faidley. I explained my situation to him. I have a senior at Dickinson High School. We had no intention of uprooting the family,” Anderson said.

Anderson said his top priority is working with the state on an audit of the district’s finances.
